Nerve book to movie adaptation

Nerve follows Vee who, to show what is she capable of, starts playing an online game in which to win prizes and money you have to complete a series of dares. The dares have to be recorded by the contestant and their videos are given votes by Watchers.

Nerve was a really nail-biting, thought-provoking movie. I really liked how it was developed and how the story sucks you in. I think that it shows really well how little by little one person is able to change when they are being offered something in exchange. At first Vee’s dares were kind of funny and stupid, but then they start getting dangerous. I also think Emma Roberts does a really good job portraying an innocent high school girl and how she changes her acting as the character develops through the movie. Dave Franco also did a fantastic job portraying Ian, a mysterious guy, who no one knows where he came from, which is the other main character. The chemistry between them two made the romance between the characters feel vivid and intense.
Apart from that, I liked how the ending was developed and how everyone played their part even the ones that where anonymous watchers.
I think both the book and the movie where thought-provoking since, especially nowadays, with the importance that social media is taking in our lives. I think it will make you think about how much information you share in them as well as, how there are actually many people who made videos and pictures risking themselves for the perfect shoot or selfie. And how are those people who comment and like those pictures and videos the ones who encouraged them to keep doing it.

As a book-to-movie adaptation it is true that it did not follow the book in many aspects of it. For starters the book was set in Seattle and the movie in New York City. Apart from that the dares start in a different way and the relationship between Ian and Vee is not shown to the watchers until the end. However as much as I enjoyed the book I think in this case I like the movie better. One of the things lacking in the book was Ian’s background story, which is talked about but not shown. Also I liked how in the movie they made the watchers feel guilty in the end, while in the book they are still followed even after the game ends.
To sum up, if you are thinking about seen the movie and you are indecisive I think you should watch it. Moreover, I think you should do a little bit of thinking on the topic while and after you have watched it, since maybe your opinion on social media might change a little.

Thanks for reading,

Half Year Wrap Up and July TBR

Hello everyone, as I said on my update and favorites post I’m sorry I’ve been absent lately. Because of that, I’m not going to do a monthly wrap up, but a middle of the year wrap up. I can’t believe we have already hit the middle of the year, but here we are and I’m four books behind in my goodreads challenge, which is more or less like a month. It isn’t much considering how little time I have had to read, as well as many other things, and considering there were two months in which I didn’t finished one book.  We start with January, the best month reading wise I’ve had in years, I completed a total of 8 books in addition to a novella and a graphic novel. Not only that, I also highly enjoyed most books I read during that month  “Captivated by You” by Sylvia Day. The last book published in the Crossfire series, really liked it, and I can’t wait for the next book which I think might be the last. (4/5) “Conociendo a Raul” by Blue Jeans. The novella I read, prequel to “El Club de
