Clockwork princess is the last book in the infernal devices trilogy. This series is a prequel to the well-known mortal instruments series, written by Cassandra Clare.
Tessa and Jem are preparing their wedding while the council decides whether to let them get married or not. There has been months since Mortmain last appearance and they have started to forget about him, however all the calm ends when they help Gabriel Lightwood take down his father who has turned into a demonic worm. During the fight Jem faints; he has run out of medicine and Will is unable to find more. Mortmain sends a letter offering Jem’s medicine in exchange of Tessa, but and Will and Jem didn’t let Tessa do it. But Mortmain will find a way to get to Tessa, because his plans depend on her and he won’t let anything get in between him and his revenge.
Clockwork Princess was an amazing conclusion to a series that has earned a place in my heart. The plot was full of turns and twists, I couldn’t believe how much things happened in the book, I was all the time thinking this can be the last book because I didn’t thought Cassandra Clare could make an ending that will meet my expectations, but it did. I really enjoyed the parts in which you could see how The Mortal Instruments’ characters relate to the characters in these books. There were things I saw coming because of the other series as well, but I think there were a lot of things I would have not be able to get if I haven’t read the other series. I loved the characters in these books, they were fantastic. Tessa was a character that develops thought the books without losing her soul. Will is so soon worthy, he cares for the people he loves even the people he doesn’t love that much, but then he has this witty sense of humor that makes you laugh a lot. Jem was the definition of a really good person, someone you know you can count on whenever you need him. Although, I found Jem a little bit too good, he isn’t one of those people you immediately fall for but probably he will be able to earn your heart little by little. Therefore I think I couldn’t understand how Tessa fall in love with him, I think we missed so many dates and moments between them that would have made me understand the end of the epilogue much better. Charlotte was an amazing mother to all his beloved shadow-hunters, even if they weren’t that much younger. Sophie turns into a badass who is not afraid of fighting. Gabriel develops amazingly, setting the base for future generations. Gideon was also a loving character, as well as, Henry. Not forgetting about Magnus, the great Magnus, I’m in love with Magnus character, he is such a good person even if he tries to hide it.
The only thing I found a little bit confusing was the end of the epilogue, as I mention I couldn’t understand it. I think it was the fact I already said, about Jem, in addition to, the fact that three paraphrases before they were talking about Will and how good he was.
In conclusion, The Infernal Devices is such an amazing series that you cannot read specially if you liked any from the Mortal instruments. It’s action pack, compelling and a really interesting series. I recommend anyone who likes fantasy and supernatural to red this series.
