“City of Heavenly Fire” is the last book in the Mortal
instruments series written by Cassandra Clare. This books take place in a world
were magical creatures are real and to keep them from hurting humans angels
created the shadow hunters, nefilim, half-human half-angel.
When Clary separated Jace form Sebastian using the
sword the angel Raziel gave to them she, somehow, trapped the heavenly fire
inside Jace’s body, and he hasn’t been really able to control it. Sebastian
starts attacking institutes all over the world turning shadow hunters to the
dark and using them to keep attacking institutes. In order to be protected from
Sebastian and his growing army the shadow hunters are called to Idiris. Clary
along Jace, the lightwoods and her family goes to Idiris were the council tries
to find a way against Sebastian the only problem being they seem to be always
one step behind and unable to find where he is hiding. Sebastian is also really
obsessed to have Clary and Jace by his side, and the council will find out how
far can he goes to get what he wants, as well as, how far can Clary, Jace,
Simon, Isabelle and Alec to save the one’s they love the most.
“City of Heavenly Fire” was a fantastic book, a really
good ending to a fabulous series. The beginning was a little slow specially
since the author was introducing new characters and it takes time for me to
love new characters, although by the time the book was done I couldn’t help but
loving Emma Castairs and the Blackthornes. The book was a fantastic in depth
look to the shadowhunter society. The ending with Sebastian was both expected
and unexpected at the same time. However I was not really impressed by the “big
secret” about Magnus’ father. Neither impressed by what happened to Simon at
the very end, happy about it but not surprised.
I really really really recommend this whole series. I
was one of the ones that weren’t so sure about loving it but I really did. And
I will for sure be reading the next series that are expected to be published
set on this world.
