“A Game of Thrones” is the first book in the epic, world-known fantasy series “A song of Ice and Fire” written by George R. R. Martin. It was published for the first time on 1996. However, it wasn’t until 2002 that it arrived to Spain.
Moreover, the series has been all over the hype since the series “Game of Thrones” was launched by the HBO about two years ago.

In a world where seasons last for years, winter is about to make an entry. Along with him there are coming quite a few changes. Robert Baratheon, king of the seven houses, asked his good friend Eddard Stark, lord of Invernalia, to be his new hand. Therefore, Ned left his home, taken his two daughters, and went to the court. At the court, Ned will be trying to find out what happened to lord Arryn, the previous hand of the king as well as his brother in law. All odds seemed to point to the queen and her family, from which Ned isn’t a fan.
On the other hand, Vyserys and Daenerys Targaryen, the last descendants of the king who was overthrown by Robert, were planning on taking what was stolen from them back.
Last, but not least, Jon Snow, Ned’s bastard, go to the wall. There he will find a new family along with mysterious enemies, which seemed to come out from old tales.

“A Game of Thrones” was an absorbing book. First, the way it was written made the book really interesting, as well as, complicated. Each chapter tells what happens around the character on the title of the chapter in third person. As each character is in a different setting, the writing makes you travel around the world of the book.
In addition to that, between chapters there is usually a jump ahead in time. This makes the story quite unique, nonetheless incredibly complex. It becomes complex because every time you start a new chapter it has to tell you what is happening on the chapter, with the addition of what had happened before.
Furthermore, the plot seems quite well prepared. What I mean with this is that is possible to see how everything is going to connect somehow in the future, in a quite epic end (I suppose). It is incredible how the author can keep track of his own story, when there are so many twists and turns.
Not forgetting that the characters develop along with the plot. The kids grow up, showing how the things that happened to them actually change them. The develop of the feminine characters such as Daenerys or lady Cathleen is amazing; they turn into amazing powerful women who stand by themselves.
On the contrary, I found the book too descriptive at times. Especially since the world in this series is not such an outstanding world. What I mean is that the world is quite similar to the real middle age, hence I found those descriptions useful. My personal belief is that it makes the book feel even longer.
The amount of information in this book is incredibly huge. There are many different characters along with lots of different places. There are also fictional animals, events, creatures, status, etc. All this information really got me lost at first. I really needed to stop reading and process all the information before starting again.
The last thing I would like to point out is that the book is full of mature content. There are sex scenes such as fights, where it can be a bit graphic. It doesn’t mean that the author recreates himself on this scenes, he just actually describes them as they are.

To sum up, “A Game of Thrones” is a fantastic book. It is an epic adventure that will make you sit down and read for hours. I actually didn’t expect to like it as much as I did, as high fantasy isn’t really my cup of tea. Moreover really long books usually discourage me. With that being said, I really recommend this book to anyone. I encourage everyone to give it a try, even if you think you wouldn’t like it

Half Year Wrap Up and July TBR

Hello everyone, as I said on my update and favorites post I’m sorry I’ve been absent lately. Because of that, I’m not going to do a monthly wrap up, but a middle of the year wrap up. I can’t believe we have already hit the middle of the year, but here we are and I’m four books behind in my goodreads challenge, which is more or less like a month. It isn’t much considering how little time I have had to read, as well as many other things, and considering there were two months in which I didn’t finished one book.  We start with January, the best month reading wise I’ve had in years, I completed a total of 8 books in addition to a novella and a graphic novel. Not only that, I also highly enjoyed most books I read during that month  “Captivated by You” by Sylvia Day. The last book published in the Crossfire series, really liked it, and I can’t wait for the next book which I think might be the last. (4/5) “Conociendo a Raul” by Blue Jeans. The novella I read, prequel to “El Club de

The Golden Lily - Richelle Mead

Tittle: The Golden Lilly (Bloodlines #2) Author: Richelle Mead Genre: Fiction, YA, Fantasy, Vampires. Pages: 418 Publisher: Penguin group Format: Digital (Kindle) Time to read it: 6 days Language: English Rating: 5/5 “The Golden Lily” is the second book in the “Bloodlines” series written by Richelle Mead. This is a spin-off series of her previous work “Vampire Academy”. This time the plot centers around Sydney, which we met on the previous series as an alchemist, an “agency” that works on making the vampire world “invisible” to the human kind, and that way they protect humans from evil, vampires. The alchemists tolerate Moroi and Damphir, however they do not engage with them more than what is strictly necessary, they are still evil. Nonetheless, they have a worse evil as common enemy Strigoi. After what happened to Sydney and Adrian, Dimitry and Sonya, former Strigoi turned back into Damphir and Moroi by spirit, came to Palm Springs in order to investigate

Strife - Cate Tiernan

Tittle: Strife Author: Cate Tiernan Genre: Fiction, YA, Romance, fantasy, witches, magik, coming of age. Pages: 188 Publisher: Puffin Format: Digital (Kindle) Time to read it: 5 days Language: English Rating: 4/5 “Strife is the ninth book in the “Wicca/Sweep” series, a series that follows Morgan as she finds out about the existence of magik and her relationship with it. She discovers a new part of her life that threatens with run over everything else. Weird things start happening and the only one that can be blame is Morgan who is uninitiated, since now Ciaran is on the run, and Selene and Cal dead. Hunter brings someone to help her out but her solution to things kinds of goes to extreme. Also, Alisa leaves the coven, since all the things happening scared her off. “Strife” was a good book in the series but it got me lost a little bit. They introduced Alisa’s point of view which kinds of puts me off a little bit and all in all it was a little tedious
