“Iluminae”
is the first book in the “Iluminae files series” written by Amy Kauffman and
Jay Kristoff, a futuristic story about a couple of teenagers who found
themselves in the middle of a space war.
Kady and
Ezra just broke up, however they find that they only have each other after what
happened in their planet, despite the fact that they are located in different
spaceships. Two rival companies control the universe and they are willing to do
anything to be the only one, even destroying a whole planet. However, that
would not be the worst thing happening to the one who used to live in the small
planet, as they are not safe even in the rescue ships they now live.
“Iluminae”
was a fantastic experience. It was not just a great book it was much more. The
book format is quite unique and beautifully artistic. The way the book is
presented is by reports and different kind of files, as well as, video
transcriptions. The book tells a story about survival and self-discovery. It
also touches the theme about artificial intelligence and the possibility of
machines turning into people. I think it is not arguable that the book was
really original in the format. I also really liked the characters and how they
suffer a development, especially Kady. The way the plot developed and the
ending was not expected and I like that it surprised me.
To sum
up, I really recommend “Iluminae” since I cannot wait to read the second
installment of the series.
