“Take me on” is the fourth book in the “Pushing the
limits” companion book series written by Katie McGarry. This series revolves
around a series of characters that are related to each other in one way or
another. However, each individual book has its own main couple. This time the
main character we already know is West, Rachel’s brother, who was the main
character in “Crash into You” the pervious book in the series.
Hayley’s life has changed drastically over the past
few months. Her family was never rich but they had everything they needed.
However, since her father lost her job things went from bad to worse. They lost
their house and now they stay at her uncle’s where they have to respect his
strict rules. Apart from that her personal life has not been better, she used
to be a kickboxing champion, however she changed gyms for her now ex-boyfriend,
and an encounter with him made her stop loving her favorite thing until that
moment. One day when she is coming out from the pharmacy, her ex-boyfriend’s
brother attacked her in order to steal her father medicine from her, West is
around and gets into the fight in order to protect her. Nonetheless, West
father is not going to let him get into more fights, therefore he throws him
out and enrolls him into a public school, the same school Hayley attends.
“Take me on” was a really compelling and amazing book,
as I have said to most of the books in this series. I liked the self-development
West suffers through the book just with Hayley as motivation. I liked also how Hayley
learns to let go and let others take the control at the end. I liked how there
was more to the story of West family than it seemed at the end, and of course
being able to take a glimpse to other characters from previous books.
To conclude, “Take me on” was a really good book a
guilty pleasure romantic and compelling read, that I highly recommend.
