June's Wrap Up and July's TBR

I cannot believe that another month has come by, but it has and that means that it is time for another wrap up and TBR post. This month in particular I am so happy about the books I have read because I have not only completed my TBR but I have read one book in addition to all the ones I wanted to read. Also, the books I have read I have enjoyed and have gotten me back to want to read more again.

I started the month finishing “Lady Midnight” the new book in the Shadowhunter series by Cassandra Clare. This new series developing inside the Shadowhunter chronicles follow Emma Castairs and the Blackthorns, characters that were introduced to us in the last book of “The Mortal Instruments” series. Now those kids we read about have grown up and they will have to fight their own fights to become good Shadowhunters as Clary and Jace once did. If you want to read what I thought about it in more depth go to the review, here. I gave it a rating of 4/5.

Then I moved to another paranormal series I have been wanted to read for the longest time, the “Parasol Protectorate” a steampunk paranormal series based on the Victorian era. At first I had to get into the book but once I got into it, it was really interesting and fast paced and I would definitely be reading the rest of the series. I gave it another 4/5

Then I read my monthly book in the “Psy-Changeling” series by Nalini Singh. This was actually the disappointment of the month. I always go into these books with high expectations and this book did not meet them. It was much more complicated to follow; it jumped around from character to character and I had to push myself to finish it. Because I still enjoyed it, I gave it a 3/5.

Before jumping into the other series I have been reading each month, "Percy Jackson and the Olympians" I decided to read the second and last book published in the "To all the boys I've loved before" by Janny Han, called "PS I Still Love You" which was an incredible, captivating, sweet read like only Jenny Han can write. I loved her "Summer" series but this one is as much recomendable as that one.

After this I read the fourth book in the “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” series. A series that lately I have been enjoying much more than I did with the first two books. Probably the fact that the characters grow in each book getting mature and less childish probably helps a lot. However, as I have said from the beginning I wish I had read them as a kid and grown up with the characters because the experience would have been much better that way. Another 4/5 was given to this book.

Once I have gotten all the monthly must read, I jumped into “Obsidian” another first book in a new series, this time an Alien one. I have not read much Alien books, except for starting the 5th wave. And I was really willing to try, but I have to be honest Aliens were not in my comfort zone. However I said “were” because I fell in love with the book and the series, it was really easy to get into the story and the character of Kat so easy to connect, that was unable to put it down. I gave it a solid 5/5.

As soon as I finished “Obsidian” I wanted to read the next one in the series, but I was one book away from meeting my TBR, therefore I decided to move into the last book in the TBR “Perfect Chemistry” by Simone Elkeles. I really enjoyed this book; it was definitely a guilty pleasure. None the less, it was not as good as I was expecting, too predictable and little hard to believe. I gave this book a 3/5, but definitely an enjoyable easy and light read.

And last but not least I managed to finish “Onyx” the second book in the “Lux” series before the month was over. I might say I liked the first book better, but I did really like this one as well. I ran through it and I highly recommend this series so far. It was a 4.5/5.

That is everything I have read, now I will relate what books I am planning to get through this month.

First I want to keep with the “Lux” series by Jennifer L. Armentrout, which as you can see I really got into last month. Therefore I want to read Opal, third book in the series.
Then I want to finish the “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” series by rick Riordan, reading its fifth and final book “The last Olympian” this month.
In addition to this I want to keep going with the “Psy-Changeling” series as I have been doing for the last months. The next one, which is the twelfth, is “Heart of Obsidian” by, of course, Nalini Singh.
Apart from the “Lux” series, this month I also discovered the “Parasol Protectorate” series by Gail Carriger, and even if it has not hit me as hard as the “Lux” series, I did liked and want to continue with it reading “Changeless”, book two.
Last but not least since this year I also want to finish up started series, and since I love reading chick-lit over the summer, I want to finish the “Slammed” series by Colleen Hover by reading “Point of Retreat” and “This Girl”, books two and three in the series. This author is well-known for her contemporary romance books, I read the first one in this series years ago and really liked, however I have not finished the series, therefore this month it is.

Let’s see if am able to keep up with the TBR this month as I did last month. Thanks for reading,
