“Siege and Storm” is
the second book in the “Grisha” trilogy by Leigh Bardugo. The series is set in
a world where magic exists and the ones who are able to perform it are called
Grisha. They are part of the second army of the kingdom. Alina was and orphan
until she found out she was Grisha, and if that was not enough she also discovered
she was a really powerful one.
Even after escaping
from the Darkling, Alina is not safe. Her identity is not easy to disguise and
soon she will be forced to return to Ravka. She has a duty even if that duty
means having to abandon her chances of being with Mal.
“Siege and Storm”
was a good book but it did not capture me the way other books does; probably because
high-fantasy is not really my “thing”. Even though I had to stop reading it and
come later to it, I must say I did enjoy the last half of the book. In my
opinion the beginnings of these books are a little uneventful and that is the
reason why I felt like I did not care about the characters anymore. Apart from
that the world is really unique and interesting, but also hard to get used to
it.
To sum up, I do not
know if I would recommend this series since it definitely is not for everyone.
