“Broken Prince” is the second book book in “The
Royals” series written by Erin Watt. The series follows Ella as she goes from
barely surviving to living in a palace when her father’s best friend, a father
from whom she has never been heard of, takes her as her protege.
Everything happened really fast the night Ella run
away, Brooke was naked on Reed’s bedroom and Ella though he was cheating on her
with her, not other than his father girlfriend. And there was also Brooke’s
pregnancy and her threat to tell everyone it’s Reed’s baby. That night
everything collapsed, Reed cannot stop looking and does not care about anything
else, not even when the Royals are losing the control over the school. The
relationship between the brothers is not holding either, even the twins, who were
not really close to Ella miss her and know that is Reeds fault. However, the
worst is East who blames Reed openly since he had found in Ella something
special, close to a true sister.
“Broken Prince” was an interesting book and
surprisingly as compelling as the first one in the series. Part of the story is
told in Reeds perspective, and a boy perspective usually puts me off, but did
not in this case. I am really compelled by stories told in first person when
the voice is a female, since I am a female, however in this case I was able to
connect with Reed’s point of view as well. The plot and storyline is quite
predictable, however the actions and the twists to get to the resolution is
what keeps you on edge all the time. I did not have an idea of what the author
might came up next to twist the plot, but she was able to twist the twists and
kept me plastered to the book all day.
To sum up, “Broken Prince” did not let me down, it
kept me reading all day long and had to push myself to put it down to do something
with my life. I really recommended reading it if you liked the first one.
